The History of Daniel Wellington
2011 – Present
The story of Daniel Wellington is interesting and somewhat different than many others of it kind. Founder Filip Tysander was on a trip to the gloriously sunny British Isles and met a man who intrigued him (at least someone in this country has met someone intriguing). Tysander became extremely interested in this man and his life stories, but what particularly caught his eye, was the watches that he wore.
Classic, timeless and sleek, Tysander saw that this man has steeped in style and knew what he wanted from his watch. I don’t know if you haven’t guessed it already, but the man that Tysander met was of course Daniel Wellington. A strong friendship emerged between the two, and our founder was inspired not only by the man’s many great life stories but also by his class and timeless style of fashion.
Tysander took this back to Sweden with him and created the brand that we see today. Steeped in style and a back story that will surprise many, he never steers away from the aesthetics of his brand – clean, minimal, classic and timeless. That’s what keeps people coming back for more each time.
As Daniel Wellington himself was a fan of the old NATO straps, he wanted to incorporate the design into the range of watches. They wanted to keep things minimal, with the watch itself and so opted for the slim, elegant aesthetic the brand has become known for, specifically so it would work well with any form of interchangeable straps.
The great thing about the watches is that you can pretty much wear them with anything and it will work. Whether you’re looking for a watch to wear to the office or simply day-to-day, Daniel Wellington caters for it all with ease and style to make you want even more. I have a skinny wrist and not every watch fits my wrist so well. This is the reason I’m quite choosy when it comes to watch selection. I need to get my watches resized from watch dealers so that the band or chain fits my wrist. Not with this one though! The beautifully crafted mesh strap is soft and lightweight, and ensures the watch sits comfortably on your wrist. The mesh is made from stainless steel, and is available with silver or rose gold plating, and its length can easily be adjusted at the convenience of your own home.

The rose gold mesh band is very sleek and flexible. The dial is very thin, lightweight and minimalist too. The diameter of dial is 32 mm with a case thickness of 6 mm which is perfect for my wrist. The strap width is 14 mm which will work for broad or skinny wrists. The watch features Japanese Quartz Movement.
This watch has interchangeable straps and is water-resistant upto 3 ATM (Rain Resistant). Excessive contact with water may cause damage to the watch though.
The watch also comes with a Limited Warranty of 24 Months #bonus.
