It’s the big day today…..Its my birthday and thank you all for the lovely wishes and blessings.
This incident took place a year back on my birthday. After celebrating the 26th night with my friends and 27th day, I rather spend my time with family which is common on my birthday. By nightfall, I go to all my social media pages to thank my fans and well wishers. On Facebook , I had countless birthday wishes on which I was busy responding . One particular message caught my attention written as “this is a gift from me to you”. I merrily opened the link on a new browser and after seeing the page I was shocked to the core. A guy name Mayur Darade made a fan page of mine and posted some random photos of me from my social media accounts. This page by then had a whopping 22,000 likes .To him, it was a sweet gesture but for me it was invasion of my privacy.
I already had a fan page on Facebook which had almost 10,000 likes by then and it was efficiently managed by my assistant, Khawish Qureshi and me. These two fan pages, one which officially I created and the other , which my so-called well wisher Mr. Darade made created a massive confusion for my fans and prospective employers, they mistook Mr. Darade’s fake fanpage as my official page which resulted in huge losses for me as I lost potential clients and business deals.
So I decided to have one on one discussion with Mr. Darade and get this done with gracefully. I politely appreciated his sweet gesture and explained him the harm he inadvertently has done to my work and requested to take off the fake fanpage immediately. He said he couldn’t recollect the password for the page but assured me that he will delete the page somehow soon. we had a casual chat for a week and then I got busy with my work forgetting the entire issue.
Three months later, 
some of my friends and fans said there was this page of mine which had many obscene images and to check if my account has been hacked or something. After checking on Facebook, I came across two fan pages, one was mine and the other had my name but this time it had different photos of some porn stars with questionable images. I was startled to see that this was the same fan page which Mayur Darade made as it still had my initial photos which he used while making this page. This time I didn’t have his number so I had to wait for his response on FB messenger. Thank God! He replied me. He said he is no more handling the page and he doesn’t know who the admin was? But he will help me to take the page down. I requested him to either delete the page or the photos and change the page name as it was maligning my image. He said he will take care of and I moved on in life thinking it will be taken care of
I started this blog two months back and the response was overwhelming. A month before, I was getting frequent messages on Instagram account that who is handling my Facebook fan page it had too many obscene pictures as you can see in image above. Many of the images are too cheap to share out here. This time I was seething in anger and super upset this page was still there and had more than 33,000 likes now. This time I couldn’t recall the person name as it all happened eight months back. I had to go through all my conversations for 27th may on Facebook to see whom I had a chatted with. He was still in my friend list, friend or foe who knows. I warned him that I will be seeking legal action against him it if he doesn’t take this page down. He pretended in the same way as he did before that he doesn’t know who the admin was and all ? I was furies and helpless. I had no idea whom to approach and what my possible course of action should against this guy. This entire incident somehow created a fear in me, I stopped socializing as deep down I was shattered. I was in total disbelief when I saw some very close friends liking my images on that fake fan page.
Finally one day I gathered my strength and decided that now enough is enough, I will not suffer in silence and teach this sadist a lesson for life.
I took help from one of my lawyer friend. He sent me a link of Belapur Cyber Cell and advised me to file a complaint. He assured that it very effective and safe. I emailed my complaint to Belapur Cyber Cell Navi Mumbai, same day evening ,I got a reply from Navi Mumbai Police that the case is forwarded to Cyber Crime. Next day, I got call from Officer Mr. Swami and he asked me to meet him at Navi Mumbai Commissioner Police head quarters.
I must admit it’s not a pleasant feeling to be at any police office. I met the senior officer who badgered me with questions which irritated me for some time, for example: Why you didn’t come before? It’s almost a year now? You were friends with this person? Do you have his contact number? I kept calm and answered them quite maturely. Officer Swami and few more officers helped me. I had to write a letter to Nerul Police to register the case and to forward the same to the cyber cell. My case was handled on priority . They mailed the link and hard copies of the Fake fan page to Face Book head office in USA. They said it will take 21 days or more to take the page down.
I could have send Mayur Darade behind the bars but no that’s not me. After warning him, he again posted few of my images on fake Facebook fan page. It was difficult but I kept my calm for 21 days.
Today I m writing this article especially for those who suffer against any kind of cyber crime , please seek help. Take legal action, talk to close friends and family. Don’t be silent. Don’t let anyone take advantage of you or any situation. It’s not your fault. My case may sound pretty normal to anyone but for me , there is nothing more important than my dignity and my image.
