Let me just educate you more the brand River Island than I will tell why it’s a must have.
Dominating the British High Street for more than 60 years, River Island knows how to perfect a party look. With one of the largest design teams on the High Street, almost every one of its denim, dresses and accessories collections are designed in-house, which means they can react to the latest trends immediately. Although party and prom dresses have become its signature, their collection also includes bodycon silhouettes, fluid maxi styles and casual skater dresses
River Island Chelsea Girl
In 1965 Lewis Separates had an impressive 70 store empire in the UK and decided that the brand needed a new identity. Lewis Separates was re-branded to Chelsea Girl, the name chosen because at the time the King’s Road in Chelsea was the hub of fashion, music and popular culture. Chelsea Girl became the first UK fashion boutique chain.
So here is first my first pick, River Island Chelsea Maxi dress. The sun has come out, so think ahead and snap up a pretty piece you can layer up this spring but that will see you through summer.
This full-length, white version with a sexy side hem is from Chelsea Girl that knows how to make a good sundress. This sleeveless, round neck number is chorhet lace finish and fully lined, so it’s comfy and not too revealing.
Shooting with a toddler is quite tricky but I was clear with the theme for this look. Baby Pritha took time to get along with me and took a full box of chocolates, smiling as I recollect the scene.
A simple tiara does all the justice to my Chelsea Girl Maxi. I kept my make up to the mark just like a princess.
River Island Denim
Now here is my second pick, River Island Jeans. Know how River Island brand was named.
In the late 1970s, two of the brothers left the business, leaving Bernard, David and their families in charge. They formed the Lewis Trust Group, for which David ran the other businesses covering hotels, property and investments, leaving Bernard to run the retail operation. This allowed the company to expand into menswear in 1982 with the launch of Concept Man stores, before they were merged with Chelsea Girl to become one retail brand under the name of River Island in 1988.
In 2010 River Island launched Kids wear. In 2011, Chelsea Girl was re-introduced as a capsule collection within River Island stores.
